Trade Finance Awards

Methodology

Global Finance will select the World’s Best Trade Finance Providers 2027 based on independent research and entries submitted by banks and trade finance institutions. Editors use a proprietary algorithm to assess quantitative and qualitative factors on volume, market share, and global coverage; commitment to the trade finance business; innovation and technology; execution skills and client experience; and results, impact, and performance.

Entries are not necessary to win, but they strengthen the likelihood of success by allowing institutions to present data, strategy, context, and innovation that may not be fully visible through public sources.

Stage 1: Editorial Review and Initial Screening

Global Finance will narrow the field based on each provider’s capability and relevance within the specific category entered, including:

● Volume, market share, and scope of global trade coverage
● Range of trade finance products and services
● Commitment to the trade finance business, including capital deployment, risk infrastructure, and client-facing capabilities
● Evidence of meaningful innovation and technology adoption that enhances client outcomes across corporate and institutional segments

Stage 2: Final Editorial Assessment

Finalists will be evaluated on:

● Breadth and quality of trade finance products and services, and how well they meet the full spectrum of client needs, including letters of credit, guarantees, supply chain finance, working capital optimization, risk mitigation, and digital trade capabilities
● Innovation and technology deployment that reduces friction, improves workflow integration, and delivers measurable efficiency gains for corporate and institutional clients
● Client experience, relationship management, and responsiveness across channels — including onboarding, advisory support, and digital platform access
● Demonstrated results during the review period, including measurable client outcomes, portfolio and revenue growth, and evidence of strategic execution

In the event of a tie, editors will give greater consideration to local providers over global institutions and private-sector banks over government-owned institutions. Winners will be the firms that best serve the specialized needs of corporate and institutional trade finance clients in their markets.
