Economy Powered By Tourism And FDI
With gold sandy beaches, mountainous rainforests and volcanic hot springs, this scenic island country in the Caribbean Sea relies heavily on tourism as its main economic driver and largest employer.
Saint Lucia actively promotes foreign direct investment (FDI) by granting equal treatment for nationals and foreigners across all sectors. Alongside tourism, investment aimed at diversifying the economic base is encouraged in communications and information technology, manufacturing, agro-processing, global business outsourcing, and real estate development. A member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), Saint Lucia’s well-developed legal and commercial infrastructure has historically supported economic growth. However, challenges such as limited access to financing, skill gaps and climate-related risks can stifle private-sector initiative and growth.
